Mrs. Torres and Family

Mrs. Torres

A message from the Counselor, Mrs. Eva Torres:

I am proud to introduce myself as the counselor of Orange Grove Middle School. I grew up in Hacienda Heights and graduated from Bishop Amat High School. I also attended Los Robles Elementary and Orange Grove “Junior High.” I loved my time at Orange Grove and I made sure I was involved in activities like cheerleading and yearbook staff. I knew back then that I wanted to be a school counselor. The world of pre-adolescence can be difficult to navigate on your own and I felt I could help guide others through their journey.

Academics were also a very important part of my life. I realized at an early age that education was vital to my future success in life.  I graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology where I took extensive courses in race relations and made presentations to high school students about body image. All of these experiences led me to pursue a Master of Arts degree in School Counseling at Cal State University at Long Beach.

I have been working as a middle school counselor in the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District since 2002. My first three years were spent at Newton Middle School and the rest have been at OG. Serving the families of my own community and watching kids develop into accomplished young adults has been a very rewarding experience year after year.

My spare time is spent with my husband and our two children who are in elementary school. Being a parent of a child with special needs has been a blessing and a challenge. I’ve been given the gift of seeing the world through another set of eyes that I would have never seen before, and for that I am thankful. To those families of children with special needs, I stand in solidarity with you.

I look forward to working with the students and families of OG by preparing them academically and emotionally for the world of high school and beyond!

Dream Big, Work Hard, Celebrate Success!

I am available to students throughout the day. Parents are welcome to contact me anytime by phone or email or by making an appointment.
